The Optimist Hydrating Essence is another new discovery, but one from a brand I know and love well: the brilliant Maya Chia Beauty. You may think that there’s nothing new under the sun when it comes to the crowded field of hydrating mists, but you would be mistaken. To me, the Optimist is the clean alternative to the much-ballyhooed SK-II Essence, harnessing the age-reversing power of sake to help tone and brighten the skin. Unlike SK-II, however, instead of a couple of glycols and parabens, in addition to sake, Optimist contains super-antioxidant astaxanthin, white tea extract, brightening licorice, chia seed, polysaccharides and amino acids. This isn’t just another mist: it’s a powerful treatment. And it just happens to smell absolutely heavenly: green, slightly citrusy, pretty and bright. ✨ Enjoy your golden days of summer, loves!

The Optimist Hydrating Essence
I’m going to share a bit of the email I sent to Maya Chia Beauty after receiving their new #hydratingessence #toner #mist ❤:
The subject line was “It’s perfect! It’s amazing! I love it!” ❤ And here’s just a bit of what I gushed:
“You have outdone yourself! The Optimist is freaking perfect. I love it so freaking much! It’s my freaking favorite mist! Your package arrived about 4 hours ago and I’ve already misted my face with it at least a dozen times! I love it!!!!!!! Thank you thank you thank you! It smells fantastic and I’m so excited about the amazing ingredients. Wow. Just wow. And the name. Omg. It’s awesome.”
There you have it, folks. I think I like it. You will, too. Can’t wait for you all to try it!

My New Obsession: Maya Chia Beauty
I am really excited to talk more in-depth about my holy grail face oils. I have been talking about them on Instagram and Snapchat and am FINALLY posting a full review for all of you to learn more about why I love these products and this brand so much. I try out many products but there are few that really make me fall in love and when that happens, I try my best to keep hush hush until I really give them the proper time to test out. I don’t want to ever speak too quickly and then change my mind after either not trying a product long enough but loving it at first and then having breakouts from it later on. For these two oils I truly tested them day and night for MONTHS. I can now tell you all that these oils are my HOLY GRAILS. I use both. I will explain more of my love for this brand and these oils below… The owner and founder of Maya Chia, Susanne Norwitz, is perhaps one of the most humble and kind-hearted people I have had the pleasure of working with. You can tell that this is her passion and it shows in not only her talent but in how the products work. I have told her numerous times that these serums are magical. I say that because if you are a long-time reader of mine then you will know how sensitive my skin is… and by sensitive I mean INCREDIBLY SENSITIVE. Knowing this, I now take my time when testing out any new skincare products especially if they are oil-based as I tend to be prone to milia, breakouts around my mouth and chin (usually perioral dermatitis) as well as dermatitis especially from products with too many essential oils.
I start with the Omega Chia Oil, 3 drops in the palm of my hand and massage into damp skin. I then go in with 1 drop of the Super Couple and apply around my eyes, nose, cheeks and any targeted areas where I need help with hyper-pigmentation, dark circles or want an extra glow! Sometimes these are all I use at night while other times I will use a face cream before applying both oils. During the day I only use the Omega Chia Oil and I LOVE to apply it before makeup. It is my favorite primer for underneath makeup, especially mineral. It helps my makeup last all day and look extra dewy! I love it. These oils have helped my skin to truly glow more than I have ever seen and I am now wearing less foundation when I do wear makeup. If you are struggling with hypersensitive skin, perioral dermatitis, hormonal acne, eczema, etc, I know how frustrating it is. I plan to do another in-depth post on my ENTIRE skincare routine. Through trial and error (and a lot of patience!) I have finally found what works for me and I know hat you can too. Sometimes it takes using less products and figuring out what specific ingredients your skin responds to. These special oils have given me faith in oils again. For awhile I was unable to use ANY because my skin would freak out. Also – my dark circles have significantly improved. Milia is almost gone, hyperpigmentation is so much better, and my skin is the SOFTEST it’s ever been!

Maya Chia Review
So I’ve been on the edge of my seat to finally share this review with you guys! If you follow me on Instagram you’ve seen me post about Maya Chia and talk non-stop about them on my stories. I’ve refrained myself from sharing too much on the newest products I’ve tried because I didn’t want to give away all the juicy deets! I was first introduced to Maya Chia through my Beauty Heroes Box in January. I couldn’t believe I hadn’t tried them until then. Shame on me I know. […] Ok, I could go on and on but you might stop reading, so let’s cut to the chase. Keep reading to hear why I can’t get enough of this amazing skincare line!
The Great Cleanse-
This cleanser is so good. First of all the packaging-on point. Dark glass pump bottle, preserves every last drop. It’s an oil cleanser. So you apply it on dry skin and rub in circular motions all over. It removes all my makeup effortlessly-yes even the stubborn eye makeup. When I’m ready to rinse it off I apply the slightest amount of water and rub it over my face. It really helps to break up anything lingering. It has the slightest emulsification when adding the water-which I love! Then I rinse with warm water and it comes off easily. A lot of oil cleansers you have to really rub off with a washcloth to get the product off but not with this cleanser. It’s so nice to have it come off so easy. My skin feels perfectly balanced after cleansing-not too dry or oily. I’m obsessed with this cleanser! Did I mention it smells amazing? Hints of lavender and chamomile pair together beautifully. And yes, the supercritical chia oil is the first ingredient! Plus, this cleanser is only $38-a serious steal for luxe skincare. If you’ve been searching for the IT cleanser-then you just found it. Get it here and thank me later!
The Super Blend- Pressed Serum Moisture Concentrate-
Another winner-I know this might start to sound repetitive. This Pressed Serum is just all around delightful. Although it is a serum it feels more like a balm to me. A lot of people often ask why use a balm. Oh so many reasons! Balms are especially great for in the winter when skin needs extra protection from the elements. This product in particular is an anti-aging powerhouse with ingredients like asthaxanthin- a power house antioxidant, Vitamin C and CoQ10. These ingredients work together to give your skin a radiance. Seriously, give this product a couple weeks and you will see what I’m talking about. My skin felt so even, smooth and soft. Many balms can make your skin feel dry in the morning but not this one. My skin felt so hydrated and not greasy. A little goes a long way with this baby too. And the smell…ahhh SO amazing! You’ll seriously want to inhale-be warned. I applied this in upward strokes at night after cleansing and toning. I didn’t need an additional moisturizer and my skin tends to be dry. I especially loved using this when I was sick around my nose. No raw, red nose because it was so protected using this. Again another product that I can’t recommend enough! Snag your Super Blend- Pressed Serum here!
The Super Couple-
Ok, so this is the serum that started my infatuation with Maya Chia! I did a whole YouTube video on this product. You can watch it here. So why all the fuss? Well, for starters it melts right into your skin. No oily residue at all. Perfect for at night, and during the day before makeup. It evens my skin tone out and my skin never looked better-I know big statement but it’s true. I have this one spot on my left cheek side and it has some hyper pigmentation and it faded quite a bit after I had been using Maya Chia. My skin looked less red and just overall smooth. Trust me when I say I get a lot of product to sample as a beauty blogger, so when I actually go through a product it’s a big deal. This serum is on the last few drops. It has the same anti-aging benefits as the Super Blend-Pressed Serum Moisture Concentrate. Filled with vitamin C, CoQ10 and the beloved antioxidant asthaxanthin. This serum doesn’t mess around and truly delivers! Great for even the most sensitive skin types. I even use it under my eyes and it works. Say goodbye to dark circles. Guys, this stuff is the real deal. It has a slight pinkish color which actually gives your skin a glow-I love it! If you’ve been looking for an anti-aging serum that delivers then look no more!
The Pure Supercritical Omega-3 Chia Oil-
So I tried this oil after trying The Super Couple. I had lower expectations- is that wrong? I mean I was so impressed with The Super Couple. But I must admit this serum, completely amazing too. It’s heavier feeling and more moisturizing than The Super Couple Serum. Especially great for those with dry skin that can’t quite get hydrated. It also works amazing on fine lines. Although it is heavier, it still absorbs so well. Your skin feels plump and soft. Even a dry patch around my nose didn’t stand a chance with this oil. It calmed even my normal redness around my t-zone I get. A rich, extremely hydrating oil, that absorbs quickly, doesn’t feel greasy, and makes you look younger…what are you waiting for?! This is great for even the most sensitive skin. Get your Pure Supercritical Omega-3 Chia Oil here!
The Highlight of The Day-
These little guys where do I start?! I’ve fallen hard for them. So what is The Highlight of The Day? It is this bottle filled with liquid radiance- I know sounds too good to be true, but it’s not. It comes in two shades. Golden hour- a golden, warm champagne radiance and Happy Hour- a cool pink toned radiance. You apply it really however you want! I love applying mine on my upper cheek bone, bridge of my nose, in the upper middle section of my brows, cupid’s bow, and middle of chin. All the normal places you would use a traditional highlighter. You can even apply it on the inner corners of your eyes to wake them up. You can apply it over your foundation or mix it with your foundation or just where it by itself. I’ve done them all, and love the effect it gives. You literally look like your lit from within. I have both shades and equally love how they both look. As a mom, these have been serious game changers! I look more awake and they last. I can’t wait to mix them in my body oil in the summer for an all over body glow! Below you’ll find a photo of me wearing Happy Hour. If you can’t decide which to get, just get both!
The Revitalizer, Beautifying Supercritical Body Oil-
This body oil smells heavenly. I apply it right after the shower and it soaks right into my skin. The moisture lasts too! My skin feels hydrated throughout the day. Did I mention the packaging? Dark glass pump bottle-swoon worthy. I’ve been using this non-stop and can’t get enough. I love how I smell afterwards, a mixture of rose and neroli, but not strong at all. You can grab your bottle here!
Supercritical Chia Waterless Wonder Balm-
Ok, last product! This balm I got in my Beauty Heroes box as the sidekick. It was a special edition scent for Beauty Heroes. The balm itself is definitely a wonder. I couldn’t get enough. From my dry hands, feet, even my elbows, this balm seals in all the moisture. No greasy residue is left behind. My skin feels so hydrated, but the kind of hydration where you aren’t grabbing for the next moisturizing product. This is all you need. If you haven’t found anything that will give you that moisture you crave, then do yourself a favor and grab this balm-your skin will thank you!
Ok, so that concludes my review of Maya Chia. They have seven products and I’ve tried them all- I know obsessive. But guys, honestly they are all stand outs and serious winners! I don’t often devote whole reviews to lines but when they’re this good I can’t not share. If you have any questions on any of the products, leave them in the comments- would love to help you! This is one skincare line that is here to stay!
@BareBeauty
Oh. Maya. Chia.
So often, the people behind the brands I review are so lovely, so passionate and so intelligent, that I am truly humbled to call this my job. Pair that with a product that actually does what it claims to do, and I’m left (almost) speechless. This is one of those times. Many of you probably realize that I am very hesitant to try too many different skincare products in a short period of time. I’m always fearful that my complexion will go haywire (I’ve had terrible cystic acne in the past.) I was so pleasantly surprised by how much I love this product line. It is simply a skin-superfood.
Maya Chia’s Pure Supercritical Omega-3 Chia Oil is one of the most light-weight face serums I’ve ever tried. It is absorbed in an instant. However, it’s also incredibly moisturizing. I can’t think of a skin type that wouldn’t benefit from it.
If you want to step it up a notch, The Super Couple Ultra Luxe Face Serum; It’s also pink in color, so while it’s improving my skin in the long-term, my complexion is truly glowing (it kind of saved my ego on New Year’s Day).
I also love Maya Chia’s The Revitalizer Body Oil. Unlike many body oils, it is light and absorbs quickly, and it smells great. However, the main ingredient is still supercritical chia oil, which will keep your legs looking younger, longer.
Smart, Clean, Superfood skincare – that works – with a big heart, to boot.
@BareBeautyBlog
Golden Goodness
Maya Chia makes some of the best facial serums and oils I’ve tried. They are so moisturizing, yet light as a feather on skin, and they can make anyone’s skin glow. Maya Chia’s newest addition is The Super Blend Pressed Serum Concentrate, which is just as stellar as the rest of the collection. This must-correctional balm is absorbed into skin on contact, and just like Maya Chia’s serums, it doesn’t leave a trace of greasy residue.

Maya Chia Skin and Body Care
It is safe to say that I have tried dozens of face and body oils and at this point, I am rarely impressed by any of them. Maya Chia has been a great surprise. I assume that the star ingredient of the line, the Supercritical Chia oil, is a very good fit for my skin type. Chia oil is a rich source of Omega 3 EFA, which provide the skin with anti-inflammatory benefits. I will post a full-review of their products, but if you are on the market for a new body oil or face oil, I do recommend that you give them a try, especially the Pure Supercritical Omega 3 Chia Face Oil*, which I think would suit even the most delicate skin types and is so lightweight that even more oily skin types would enjoy it.

Brand Spotlight: Maya Chia Beauty
We are so excited to kick off our Brand Spotlight series with Susanne Norwitz, creator and founder of Maya Chia. Harvard educated with a true heart of gold and passion for her craft, Susanne was gracious to take time from her busy schedule to sit down and chat with Kate about her incredible line of skin care.
With so many brands promising to do so many things to your skin yet many times leaving us with no results and disappointed we got caught up in the hype. Maya Chia is far from hype and genius marketing. Maya Chia starts with science and then formulated with the utmost care to deliver stunning results to your skin.
@ABeautifulPursuit
Brand Love Maya Chia
We know all of that sounds educational (and amazing), so if you pull out one nugget of information from this piece let it be this – this stuff has an incredible power to hydrate and nourish the most desolate skin. You will not only feel it in your skins buoyancy and texture, but see it in vibrancy and liveliness. In short, it truly works.
Let us be clear in saying every single product from this Brand Love recipient is worth trying and hopefully incorporating into your sacred self-care routine, but in the interest of time, we wanted to list our absolute favorites so you at least have a place to start:
Super Couple: We’re flat out bewildered by how soft and plump our skin feels every time it’s used. This stuff has an incredible power to revive dull and tired skin, it is simply something we have no comparison to. It also works beautifully as a base for powder foundation or extra boosting drops into your daily moisturizer if you’re in need of environmental protection and cushiony hydration.
If you’re an avid oil cleanser and haven’t tried this, make this next on your list. If you’re new to oil cleansing, The Great Cleanse is the perfect place to start. Supercritical Chia oil retains skin’s moisture balance as a signature blend of oils gently yet effectively dissolve impurities. You’ll notice the immediate calming effects of the lavender on your skin and your spirit. Overall it’s a gorgeous cleansing experience that can remove even the most stubborn makeup, we even use it on our delicate eye area with no issue. Skin is left clean, soft and oh so smooth.
It’s clearly called The Revitalizer for a reason, and that’s because once again, it proves to be a superfood for skin. So often the focus of care is on our face, but Maya Chia isn’t going to let the rest slide – oh no! This amazing blend of oils contains grape seed, chia, marula, baobab, pumpkin seed and more to pump the skin with essential fatty acids, antioxidants, vitamins and lasting moisture. With prolonged use we noticed a youthful, radiant tone that emerged from our already well taken care of skin, and the scent is so elegant and sultry, it doubles as a fragrance (and not the hidden term kind).
The newest kid on the block, MC’s latest release is it’s most complex yet. And we don’t mean that The Super Blendis hard to understand, it’s just expertly crafted to build up on their already high performing astaxanthin and supercritical chia to target more intensive concerns.
You have your intense moisturizing formula, but the added Vitamin C & E, CoQ10 works synergistically with the staple ingredients to relieve oxidative stress and inflammation while brightening the skin, lightening age spots and stimulating the synthesis of collagen in the skin – which helps boost firmness and resiliency, all while preventing moisture loss.
After just trying this multi-correctional moisture amazingness a few times our skin was clearer, pores were more refined, tired lines around our eyes seemed more plump and less defined. Its great to seal in any night treatments for a final boost of concentrated botanicals or used sparingly for some daytime environmental protection under our favorite SPF. We’re also quite surprised at how quickly it absorbs.
At the end of our tribute, we hope you’ve loved learning about Maya Chia and their incredible offerings. We look forward to seeing how this brand grows and evolves with the increasing demand for self care products backed by integrity. Their additions are never set to schedule or quarterly goals, but rather consumer need or ingredient revelation. Thank you Maya Chia for making #PursuingBetter so exciting.

Beauty Finds: 12 Transitional Picks From Summer Into Fall
You may be seeing Maya Chia everywhere because it really is a fantastic young company. The brand uses a proprietary method of extracting the omega-rich oil from chia seeds that preserves the many beneficial properties. The proof of quality is clear. The serums sinks in so quickly that I recommend applying them with fingertips and not with your palm because they start to absorb in my hand before reaching my face. Woah. The Supercritical Omega-3 Face Oil smells so good too and its high-powered sister oil is another favorite. They’re one of the first oil-based serums that I can barely detect on skin once they’re on which makes them wear exceptionally well under makeup. I’ll definitely be sharing more about this line because it’s quickly climbing high on my must-have list.

My Favorite Organic Highlighters
Just dropping in with a quick afternoon post. I recently discovered these two (both completely natural and organic) glow-inducing products and had to tell you about them immediately!!! As you probably know by now highlighter/illuminator is one of my absolute must-have products… I love to glow! But it can be tricky to find a good one, especially if you are looking to go the all-natural route.
Maya Chia The Highlight of the Day: So, I was confused at first by this. Is it makeup? Is it serum? Maya Chia describes it as a makeup serum on their website which doesn’t exactly feel helpful… but at the end of the day, that’s what it is! The Highlight of the Day (besides being cleverly named) is a pearlescent liquid. The texture is like a serum… but it is indeed makeup. On the brand’s website, it says to place a few drops wherever you’d like to glow, but I did not read that until sitting down to write this post. What I did for all of last week (and the week before!) was take a full dropper of it and rub it on all over my skin… blending it into my entire face. And you know what? I kind of loved it. When I first applied it I was a bit freaked out. I looked iridescent. But then I rubbed it in and (in all seriousness), it just looked as though I had put on the “pretty” Snapchat filter. My skin was crazy glowy and radiant and any imperfections blurred away. It was magic. Unlike regular serum, I apply this after moisturizing… but before putting on tinted moisturizer or any face makeup (and sometimes I apply it and don’t put on any makeup at all). It’s the best… whether or not you opt to only apply it where you want to glow.

The Highlight of the Day – One of My 16 Favorite Clean Beauty Products From 2016
As 2016 came to a close, I found myself reflecting on the importance of clean and organic beauty. The bottom line is that it’s crucial to be aware and informed of the ingredients that are penetrating the skin. Just like we all care so much about what we put into our bodies, like buying organic apples and hormone-free whatever, we need to pay the same close attention to our beauty products – everything from skincare, haircare, makeup and even for the hardcore, perfume. Now I am the first to admit that I love a Tom Ford lipstick, and live for Chanel No. 5, but for the most part I choose organic, and especially when it comes to my skincare. After all, the skin takes up a lot more real estate than my lips!
How many of you actually know what all those toxic ingredients mean? Whether you are pregnant, young, old, sick, healthy, you should look at 2017 as a fresh start — a chance to revamp your beauty routine once and for all. I am inspired by my girlfriend who has very sensitive skin, and she finds organic and natural beauty products make her break out and give her allergic reactions. For her, I will continue to look for natural products that work for even the most sensitive of complexions. But in the meantime, I want to share with you my favorite natural products that I took with me to Switzerland that I am the most excited to use in my new home – for the best skin possible. Hey, first impressions are everything.
How do I determine products I claim are the best? There are three important pieces of criteria.
ONE. The products must deliver the promised results without any negative side effects. Remember that MAC Eye Gloss that you love so much, yet always seemed to make your eyes itchy and red? Now you see my point. The best beauty products do what it says it will do without compromise.
TWO. It’s something that I would buy again and again and again. While there are A LOT of sunscreens out there, do you have one you always seem to splurge on? The best beauty products inspire loyalty.
THREE. It has to be something that you use to the very last drop. There are very few in fact, and really think about it, that we all use until the very end.
Now that you know how I pick, let us get into the products, shall we? Below are my absolute favorite organic, all-natural and non-toxic products that comply with my not-so-scientific-yet-get-the-mother-effing-job-done criteria.

Maya Chia HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY Illuminating Face Serum is not like any makeup you’ve ever tried. I never use face makeup because it feels stifling to my skin but this gal is ….different. The plant based highlighter adds a nice soft glow without looking or feeling makeup-y. It’s got broccoli and calendula in a nutritious chia seed oil base. Feels nice, not heavy or sticky. It’s moisturizing and blends easily with your favorite face balm or lotion.

The Highlight of the Day Review
For a makeup minimalist like myself, highlighters are a treasure: they brighten and “lift” the face, meaning that a highlighter and a touch of concealer is all I need to look put together, they help keep makeup from looking too flat or heavy, they emphasize features and can double as eyeshadow or, depending on the shade, bronzer or blush. Clearly, my love for highlighters knows no bounds and I have amassed quite a collection, from super-green brands like rmsbeauty, kjaerweis, w3llpeople and labellafigurabeauty, to clean-ish glossier, and even the not-at-all clean Pat McGrath highlighter (because how could I not). You can then imagine how excited I was about the release of the new maya chia beauty The Highlight of the Day highlighter. My excitement was at least partly due to the fact that it’s nothing like any of the products in my stash: not a cream or a powder, but a serum. A suspension of illuminating particles in Maya Chia’s star ingredient, supercritical chia oil, as well several other fab ingredients like broccoli seed oil and healing calendula, the Highlight is a beautiful, shimmery serum, super-light despite being oil-based. The Highlight is available in two shades Golden Hour (the one I have), geared towards skins with warmer undertones and a coolly pink Happy Hour. It leaves the prettiest, delicate shimmer on the skin and would work wonderfully mixed with liquid foundation to add extra brightness and glow. Despite my opening quote, it won’t leave you sparkly – just pretty. Layer the Highlight over maya chia beauty’s crazy glow maker Supercouple oil – I have raved about its glow-making and illuminating powers before – and you’ll be glowing to the gods in no time!

The Highlight of the Day, Illuminating Serum
Fridays call for illumination! The stellar @mayachiabeauty branched out into beauty with a skin care element and it’s a winning combination. I love The Highlight of the Day! It comes in two options: one that’s more opalescent and one has more gold tones. Both are gorgeous and add the right amount of luminosity to skin and a dose of magic too. #iseeunicorns. We could all use some illumination in our day.

Maya Chia The Super Couple Astaxanthin + Chia Ultra Luxe Face Oil! It’s a mouthful isn’t it? Haha! Maya Chia really hit this one out of the ballpark and with a label like “Ultra Luxe Face Oil”, who couldn’t help be intrigued? First off, when you’re named one of the best face oils for glowing skin by The Zoe Report, chosen as one of the “top 10 Face Oils” & “One of the 100 Healthiest Beauty product for your skin” by Spirituality and Health Magazine Summer 2016 AND THEN named one of the best new products of the year by Well+Good, you know this product has got it goin’ on! The Super Couple works as a multi-correctional high-performance ultra luxe face oil serum by combining astaxanthin (try saying that 10 times quickly..) with nature’s numero uno superfood, chia to create a powerful anti-aging, brightening, and overall gorgeous skin. Omega fatty acids, antioxidants and minerals fight to diminish the appearance of dull, tired and aging skin. I mean, sign me up! This oil smells beautiful and light, plus its lightweight formula quickly absorbs into my skin. I place about 4 drops into my hand and then apply onto my face and neck. (Can be used morning or night.) It’s gentle, yet powerful and can even be used on the most sensitive of skin-types. (Thank goodness!)
Maya Chia The Super Blend – Pressed Serum Brightening Moisture Concentrate – yep, PRESSED SERUM CONCENTRATE! Brightening, moisturizing, anti-aging and incredibly potent. This product (similar to The Super Couple) has a multi-action proprietary formula that includes wildcrafted plant actives each highly targeted to work together to impart a specific benefit to bring vitality to your skins appearance! It will increase your skin firmness and resiliency, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, brighten the appearance of skin. I love using this Serum after cleansing my skin at night – although it is light enough to be used during the day for a moisture boost. I put a small, pea-sized amount of the pressed serum onto my face and neck. I love massaging serums in, as it sort of lulls me and calms me down before bed. It sinks in immediately on contact and feels amazing. You can absolutely layer with a serum, but it’s not mandatory, as this blend is powerful on its own.

Maya Chia, The Highlight of the Day: I love a good highlighter. But let’s be real, there are a lot of to choose from and they’re all so different in their own ways. But, let’s chat about this product, cus oh boy, oh boy, it’s good! When I got my hands on this Illuminating Serum, I was blown away by three things: 1) The formula: it’s incredibly hydrating and the ingredients are amazing! Almost like skincare – actually – it is skincare, in makeup form! (Something Susanne, the sweet founder of Maya Chia specializes in, so that’s no surprise!) 2) The colour of Happy Hour: a cool-toned pink radiance. It’s said to impart a look of radiating joy – yes, please! The pink opalescent reflect on it is amazing! 3) The scent: Lightly and ever-so-delicately scented, this Illuminating Serum smells beautiful. With ingredients like calendula oil, Supercritical Chia Oil and more…your face will drink this up and glow-on, happily! (Also available in Golden Hour: a warm, golden, champagne-like radiance. Incredibly flattering!)

“Folks, I’m no stranger to highlighters…
Well, I have a new one in my arsenal, and dare I say, I might not be reaching for any others in the near future? (Still adore this one too, though!)
I am absolutely loving the Maya Chia Highlight of the Day Illuminating Serum in the shade After Hours.
This Illuminating Serum is a pearlized mineral sheen suspended in an ultra lightweight, easily absorbed infusion of the world’s most nutrient-rich botanicals, and created from the highest quality natural, organic and wildcrafted ingredients from conscious growers from around the world. The serum is never formulated with parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, PEGs, and SLSs…
Being the start of summer, I immediately gravitated to After Hours. By the looks in the bottle, I was concerned it might be too dark, but that was definitely not the case! It blends so beautifully on the skin. It gives the perfect beachy sheen and the smell/texture is fabulous. I just put a drop on my palm and apply on my cheekbones, bridge of nose, inner corner of eyes, and cupid’s bow of my lips.
The Happy Hour is quite lovely too, and I see myself reaching for it in the cooler months, as I love pink tones.”
Maya Chia The Super Blend
Susannah Compton for Integrity Botanicals
As you can imagine, I fell in love with Maya Chia’s beautiful face oil, body oil, and body balm, so when I heard about the launch of The Super Blend—a pressed serum brightening moisture concentrate—you can bet I ran straight for the jar. The Super Blend is similar to a balm, and I simply can’t get enough of its rich, velvety texture. It is a pure delight to press this luxurious formula over freshly cleansed skin. A pea-sized amount or less will do. I love to warm The Super Blend on the tips of my fingers and then smooth gently over my face and neck. My skin feels instantly cocooned in the softest moisture, and The Super Blend absorbs right in so that skin is never greasy but adequately protected. You’ll want to use this formula at night when your skin is in serious repair mode, but it is lovely for daytime use as well. The scent is complex, rich, and calming with neroli, rose, vetiver, cardamom, patchouli and jasmine as the main notes.

Maya Chia | The Super Couple, Ultra Luxe Face Oil Serum
With its stunning coral color and satin-skin texture, Maya Chia Ultra Luxe Face Oil Serum stands out in a growing sea of beauty oils. Described as a “multi-correctional high-performance ultra luxe face oil,” The Super Couple combines astaxanthin, a powerful antioxidant, with chia seed oil to deliver potent protection to your skin every single day. What’s impressive about The Super Couple and its marketing of these star ingredients is that both chia and astaxanthin make up the base of the oil; they are ingredients 1 and 2 in a very beautiful blend of skin-loving, luxurious ingredients that would turn even the most seasoned skincare lover’s eye. My eyes (and nose) perked up at the sight of jasmine absolute and rose absolute, which are known for both their skin-softening and aromatherapeutic effects. A host of beneficial essential oils, including carrot seed, lavender, frankincense, myrrh and chamomile, offer soothing and antimicrobial benefits to the skin — especially acneic skin like mine. These scents, in a base of chia seed oil, create a slightly nutty, slighty floral and herbaceous scent. It’s quite neutral and fades very quickly upon application. No single scent, besides softened chia, dominates the profile. All of these ingredients come together without creating a dense, oily treatment. Instead, you get a true sink-into-your-skin oil that absorbs almost as fast as you press it into the skin. I use 6 drops onto freshly misted skin and never see a massive shine or feel overly oiled-up at all. That makes this oil perfect for daytime use — and you will want to use it every day once you understand the power of this oil’s breakthrough ingredient.
Astaxanthin, one half of the so-called “super couple,” is carotenoid with extremely high antioxidant activity to combat free radicals caused by environmental stress. It’s said to perform 100 times better than vitamin E and has great potential for fighting UV-related skin stress. It’s also been clinically proven to have 65 times the strength of vitamin C to fight free radicals. Whoa. Chia oil, the base of this blend, is a rich source of omegas, antioxidants and minerals. It’s a smart choice to carry astaxanthin and the mix of essential oils and absolutes. Its lightweight texture and abundant benefits keep the oil feeling simple and minimalist while delivering complex results. This is why The Super Couple is a smart choice for daytime skincare — when you’re out in the elements, let’s use everything we can to protect our skin without feeling weighted or oily!
I can say with confidence that improvement in skin texture is legit with this oil. My skin felt and looked radiant with everyday use. That pretty pink color seemed to also serve as a base “glow” to my overall makeup routine; no need for additional highlighters when using this! With regular use, I can see how this oil could help with providing a more even skin tone and brightening…
At 4-6 drops a day, it should last several months. Because of this, Maya Chia’s The Super Couple is an absolute repurchase and recommend. The inclusion and science behind astaxanthin is impressive, especially for someone like me who is very hell-bent on getting vitamin C in my daytime routine. Perhaps I will now demand astaxanthin in everything I use?! I smell an ingredient trend about to boom thanks to Maya Chia.

The Power Couple
I may have already sang my praises for Maya Chia’s The Super Couple once before, but I’m back with a quick update on how my skin’s been doing with it lately and a new favorite from them! After my last post about Maya Chia, I was fortunate to be able to try their Supercritical Chia Waterless Wonder Balm, as well. I had mentioned in the post that it was on my list to try next and Maya Chia very generously gifted one to me to try. They were very clear that this was a no strings attached gift, they weren’t looking for a review, etc., BUT a review is exactly what I’m going to give because it’s THAT good.
So let’s rewind to The Super Couple. After really giving it a few months of time it has become one of my top three face oils, even beating out some luxury oils I’ve had sitting here that I’ve not managed to finish. I’m actually almost out of The Super Couple already and will be promptly re-ordering. What sealed the deal for me is how light weight it is, yet it still manages to moisturize just as well as some of my heavier (greasier) oils. I hate going to sleep with an oil slick on my face because 1. gross and 2. my pillow case ends up sopping up my hundred dollar face oil. But I also hate waking up with dry, tight skin, which is usually the case with some of my lighter oils. I was close to losing my faith in face oils, but this (with the help of the Waterless Balm) has pretty much solved my face oil woes. I also love how radiant and soft my skin looks and feels with it.
The Supercritical Chia Waterless Wonder Balm smells amazing (it’s seriously so nice!) and has the perfect buttery consistency that sinks into skin without making it the least bit greasy. I truly have combo skin, which is why it can be challenging with an oil alone, but I’ve found that layering this on top of my dryer areas (like my cheeks and temples) helps to seal in the moisture overnight. Together they’re definitely a power couple for my skin. And I have to repeat this, because it’s a freaking miracle- it doesn’t make my skin greasy at all! Most balms turn into a thick oil on my skin as I’m trying to rub them in and this one really just goes on smoothly, as a balm should. I even use it through out the day at times to touch up dry areas and to even out makeup if it looks a little cakey. It’s become a go-to product in my top drawer that I whip out several times.
Packaging isn’t everything, but it does add to the overall experience with the line and I feel like the chic, pretty labeling from Maya Chia is just my style. Seeing as I also can’t get over how nice the products smell and how well they work, this is pretty much a home run for me. I was really excited about sharing this line with you.

January Beauty Heroes Discovery Featuring Maya Chia
One of my FAVORITE Face Serums that exists in the green beauty world is The Supercouple, by Maya Chia! If you follow my blog then you knew that already. I’ve been raving about this super hero product for months (I have a full review on both of their serums here!). Ever since I tried my first few drops of this ultra luxe face oil it’s been a go-to staple in my beauty routine.
Maya Chia’s Waterless Wonderbalm is the chosen Sidekick, and Susanne wanted to craft an exclusive scent of the balm for Beauty Hero Members! The original Waterless Wonderbalm is created with a citrus orange scent. This select limited edition version is very complex with grounding lavender & vetiver, patchouli, rose geranium, cardamom and chamomile. All you need is a very small amount to see and quickly feel instantly revitalized skin. I use this anywhere where dry skin likes to hide out. In the winter here in the Northeast….that’s everywhere!! This scent is so calming and really delicate.

Maya Chia Supercritical Omega-3 Chia Face Oil Superfood For The Skin
Chia is said to be the “richest known plant source of omegas, antioxidants and minerals,” so it’s no wonder why the brand, Maya Chia, has created a skin care range around this omega-rich superfood. Maya Chia’s Supercritical Omega-3 Chia Face Oil* is a wondrously intense skin hydrator that is suitable for all seasons and all skin types, even sensitive.
The Supercritical Omega-3 Chia Face Oil is one intense hydrator, let me tell you! It works to smooth away any dehydration lines almost instantly. My trialing began in the harshest cold of winter, when my dry skin was desperately thirsty and in need of dire moisture. The Maya Chia Face Oil left my skin soothed, calmed, and helped to bring back my glow – I still needed to layer my moisturizer of course, but my skin was grateful for this supercharged moisturizer. Flash forward to the balmiest days of summer, Maya Chia’s Supercritical’s Chia Oil’s lightweight texture makes it perfectly suitable through all seasons. I’m loving it as much now as I did before. It absorbs instantly, leaving behind softer, smoother and healthy glowing skin.

The Super Blend Review
I’ve been testing out the Maya Chia Super Blend for several months now and I’m LOVING IT! I first experienced Maya Chia products with their much-loved Super Couple Face Oil some time last spring. While it wasn’t love at first sight with that one, I have grown to love it as a very efficient face oil for the cold months! So, because of that experience, I never thought that I would be so happy with the results the Super Blend has given me, to be quite frank, but the ingredients in this are amazing. The natural plant ingredients in this pressed serum are effective, gentle, and restorative. Your skin will love this stuff; here’s why…
The Super Blend Pressed Serum has several hero ingredients in the formula that are absolutely worth mentioning. Because of their efficacy for revitalizing, healing, and hydrating your skin, these ingredients really set the Super Blend apart from your typical natural and organic balms.
What I love:
• Hero Plant Ingredients Give Skin Actual Results
• Natural, Organic and Wild Crafted Ingredients
• Plant Based Formula with Top Notch Quality
• Smells Incredible When You Breathe It In During Application
My personal experience with this amazing pressed serum has been overwhelmingly positive. My skin looks firm, soft, smooth, bright, even toned, glowing, hydrated, and wonderful. I apply this balm at night after my toner and I wake up with what looks (and feels) like brand new skin. I really can’t quite describe the effects without sounding ridiculous, but just know that THIS SH*T WORKS! And I’ll leave it at that.

My Newest Obsession | The Super Blend
I’ve been trying out a few other Maya Chia Beauty products to go along with The Super Couple that is featured in this months beauty heroes box and I literally love every single thing I’ve tried. This pressed serum is seriously so beautiful. I like to use this at night actually mixed with TSC and applied all over my face and neck. My skin is just responding so well to these two products. And the Wonder Balm! Can’t forget that. It’s been healing my obnoxious eczema spot on my hand and it’s almost gone! It really is wonderful!

Discover What Makes Maya Chia Super
It is no secret that Maya Chia’s The Super Couple had me at hello. This oil rapidly made its way into my daily regimen, and I don’t foresee a breakup. If you know me, I rarely get too enthusiastic about a serum. Maybe it’s because there seem to be so many of them in the green beauty space, which is very exciting, yet only a small number stand out as exceptional the way Maya Chia does. That’s partly due to the vibrant color, the grounding, delicious aroma, the way it vanishes right into my skin making it feel utterly weightless… and that doesn’t even touch on the select ingredients and meticulous extraction methods. The tell-tale signs of skinprovement began surfacing soon after using The Super Couple in April 2016 (on and off between testing a few others). I’ve been noticing greater clarity, firmness, smoothness, and fewer breakouts. One drop on my fingertips and then massaged over toner-dampened skin is all it takes to cover my face and neck without any greasy residue. With the cooler weather, I may increase to two drops as needed. This is just the right amount to take me through the day or night with no dry patches or oiliness. It lives up to its name and is no “one hit wonder” either. Maya Chia’s The Great Cleanse earned its place on my list of 11 natural cleansers here. My highly sensitive and intuitive friend immediately singled out the Supercritical Face Oil, when I introduced her to a selection of my favorite serums. And we’re in good company. Discerning blogs like Beauty by Britanie, kimberlyloc.com, and Maison Pur are among those who have fallen hard and fast for Maya Chia too. Plus, there’s much more in store for this young brand, which is great news for us devoted fans. Because my affections run deep, I wanted to learn about the founder Susanne Norwitz and discover anything I could about Maya Chia’s latest product—aptly named The Super Blend—which took an actual 172 iterations to fine tune until it was perfected. This pressed serum concentrate is clearly going to be a steady companion, as I add in more balms to protect and nourish my skin in the winter. But The Super Couple needn’t worry. As Susanne lets us know: there’s room for both. I’m grateful to her for being so candid with us and for taking the time to share her insights on this top shelf beauty brand.

Maya Chia Review:
I’m sure a lot of you have seen Maya Chia being raved about all over social media lately, and for good reason! I have three products from the line and I absolutely love each one, I’ve been using these religiously for a little over a month now. I have the Super Couple, the Supercritical Omega-3 Chia Oil, and The Great Cleanse. So basically that means that we as customers get the best, purest, most stable, effective, and potent chia oil on the market with up to a 2 year shelf life. I don’t know about you guys but that sounds pretty amazing to me, and a 2 year shelf life is great and all but this stuff is too good to have lying around that long!
I highly recommend this oil (Super Couple)! It’s the one I’ve been reaching for the most, my skin is so soft, smooth, and glowing. I’m excited to see the results further down the rode as well, I’m hoping it will lighten some of these little sun spots I’ve acquired. It also gives your skin a nice glow due to the pinkish tint to the oil.
I would definitely recommend this cleansing oil, it feels great on the skin and really does get rid of all your makeup from the day. This doesn’t leave your face feeling tight or dry afterwards, and this is an affordable option at just $34, compared to some of the other cleansing oils out there. I also love the fact that this washes off with water, instead of a cloth. I can’t be doing laundry that often, too much hassle for me lol.
I recommend this facial oil as well, shocker! I was lucky enough to be sent this one from Maya Chia, but I purchased the other two with my own money. This one is a clear oil and has a lovely citrus scent to it. This easily sinks into the skin just like the Super Couple, and they both wear beautifully under makeup. If you’re suffering from dry skin I promise you will love this! I can’t get over how soft my skin feels after using this along with The Great Cleanse and the Super Couple.

Maya Chia: The Super Couple
I embarked on the journey of facial oil since last year and I have been hooked since then. I tried many oils but during this journey of many hits and misses , I have realized that the magic not only lies in the ingredients rather its lies in the hands of the formulator. I have tried many luxury brands with exotic sounding ingredients which didn’t work for my skin and sometimes simple oil with two basic ingredient has worked wonders.
The story behind Maya Chia oil is different. It wasn’t any impulse purchase nor it was enabled by any rave review. Rather it was a gift by my husband who decided that gifting me a facial oil on my birthday is the safest bet by looking at my overflowing shelves. Nevertheless I’m impressed by his research.
The first thing that drew my attention to this oil was the usage of chia oil as a base ingredient. How many oils in the market can claim that ? There is no inclusion of any grapeseed oil , jojoba oil which are good on their own but do not justify the cost to me. Maya Chia contains the non-gmo supercritical chia oil prepared using a patented, gentle supercritical process to extract the oil to ensure its purity, potency and to retain all its benefits.
Pros-
• lightweight and absorbs easily
• makes skin brighter and even toned and gives a glow
• speeds up the healing and helps with post acne hyperpigmentation.
• plumps and hydrates the skin
• layers well with other skincare products both in day and night routine
• can be used well under the makeup
• due to the supercritical patent process of extraction the shelf life is 2 years
• no artificial fragrance
Cons-
• none or at least I can’t find any.
Will I repurchase : Yes

Maya Chia: The Superfood For Your Face
The great cleanse. It’s a beautiful oil cleanser which cleanses my skin efficiently and hydrates, nourishes and calms at the same time.
The first thing which strikes me when I use it is how light it feels on the skin. That’s because the base of this is chia oil. It almost has the consistency of a facial oil. I use a pump and a half for my face and neck. I massage it on my dry skin with my hands, sometime with my jade roller. It emulsifies easily with water and washes clean with no residue at all. (You can see in the pics above how it cleans my waterproof mascara ) My skin feels soft, hydrated and balanced. It removes waterproof makeup efficiently. It can be used any time of the day, as a first cleanse or second cleanse. I prefer using it over balms as my skin is oily/ combination and I like to use cleansing oils more so in summers. It never breaks me out rather I find it soothing because of its ingredients German and Roman chamomile along with the chia seed oil. It never irritates my skin, and I find it gentle enough for all skin types.
1. As a body oil – I use it when I shower in the nights, and it immediately calms my nerves( probably due to lavender) and helps me to sleep better. No side effects whatsoever.
2. As a base for powder mask– I love to mix my powder masks with it, and since it washes off easily, there is absolutely no residue left.
3. As a prewash treatment for hair– I love treating my hair with oil before wash. I’m not able to do it everytime, but whenever I use it, my hair feels soft and less frizzy. It somehow balances my scalp, and they get less greasy, and my wash lasts longer.
Will I repurchase? Yes, yes and yes. It’s my “cult” product in the category of cleansing oils.
Do I recommend? Yes, without any doubt since it’s more than just a cleansing oil.
The Waterless Balm:
It’s a real multi-purpose wonder balm.
It smells unlike any balms I have used so far, it smells of orange blossom, not the deep spicy smell I’m used to in balms. It instantly cheers me up.
Initially I was scared to try this balm, since the first ingredient in it is shea butter and I didn’t have a good experience with it in the past. But despite it being the base, it feels super light on skin. The “citrusy”smell, as I have mentioned, is perfect for summer/ winter. I can bathe in its fragrance if ” Susanne ” ( the brain behind the brand ) decides to make a mist out of it. Again, I use it in many ways:
1. As a deep hydrating mask– I use it as a mask after using a scrub and keep on my skin for 15 – 20 min in the shower and wash it off with a warm flannel. My skin glows after using it in this way.
2. As a cleansing balm– You can use it like any other cleansing balm; it removes makeup effectively, and you don’t need much for it.
3. As a sole moisturizer– I have used it as a facial moisturizer in winters, specially when my skin gets dry due to constant indoor heating. I use the Maya Chia cleansing oil and wash it off, and while my face is wet, I scoop out a pea size amount and massage it on my face. It absorbs completely, and I wake up with smooth, soft and calm skin. No breakouts so far but if you are allergic to shea or if you get clogged easily then try a sample before you purchase the full size.
4. As an under eye and lip treatment– I use it over my m-61 hydraboost eye serum(reviewed here), and it perfectly seals it and my under eye area looks nourished if that makes sense. It hydrates my lips well, and they don’t get dry that often now.
5. As an all over body treatment– I use it after shaving and waxing, and I feel I get less ingrown hairs. My skin feels super soft, and it stays hydrated for long. The only point to remember is with this balm or any other balm is to use them when your skin is wet as that helps in better absorption. If you prefer layering and use a serum before using balms then let the serum absorb completely wait for few minutes, spray your face with toner or essence, massage the tiniest amount (you can always add later if you need so) and finish it with the mist again. I feel that balm gives you the best results when used on a wet skin.
Will I repurchase? Definitely yes, if I ever manage to finish this jar. Since it’s highly concentrated, you only need little it will last for months.
Do I recommend? Yes, if you are someone who is new to balm then it’s an excellent product to start with, and if you are looking for a light balm with a zesty freshness in summer, then this is the one to go for. At this price, it’s worth it. Overall, I would like to say that ” Maya Chia” is such an exquisite brand. I have loved every product I have used so far. They are high quality, efficient and reasonably priced for the quality you get.

Maya Chia The Super Couple Facial Oil Review
I used to be a face lotion person. Since going green I discovered how amazing facial oils are and I am currently pretty obsessed with green beauty facial oils. On my journey to find the BEST I have tried many. With my oily/combination skin I look for something that is nourishing, fast absorbing and lightweight.
The Super Couple is one facial oil that lived up to the hype from the very first use! The first thing you will notice is the beautiful color, it has a slightly pink hue. Suitable for both am and pm I applied it to my face and neck immediately after cleansing while my skin was still warm. The scent is very pleasant and delicate. The facial oil quickly absorbed into my skin and I was left with the most AMAZING glow!!! No makeup necessary after this facial oil. I was blown away not only how my skin looked and felt but of the multitasking abilities. It is an anti-aging powerhouse. My skin was nourished, my skin tone evened out, and I noticed an immediate reduction in the appearance of my forehead wrinkles. Best of all my skin absolutely loved it and drank up all the nutrients it has to offer.

Maya Chia The Super Couple Review
IS IT WORTH SHARING OVER COFEE?: OK folks, this is where the meat of my reviews usually lives. I have A LOT to say. Please keep in mind that I have been using this oil religiously day and night for almost 3 months. Thus, my review is desperately overdue but this oil serum has also been through 3 cycles of hormones, moons, weather fluctuations, and children’s sporadic sleep schedules.
So, obviously, I really enjoy Maya Chia Oil Serum for its consistent high-level performance. After doing some research on the ingredients, I also believe that they do benefit the skin as they are intended to. With performance and efficacy all meeting and exceeding my expectations, this product is worth every penny and “more”. In short, YES, worth sharing over coffee!!!
In long… er, maybe longer…
If there’s one oil in your life you want to splurge on. Just ONE TIME. I’d say this is it. Don’t resort to selling organs or anything. But, you won’t be sorry you spent your lunch money here. The feels part goes beyond product performance, it’s about the founder, Susanne. She is so genuinely kind, it’s unbelievable. She’ll ask about your kids. She’ll show interest in your life beyond the nicely cropped, filtered picture. She’s a high-end business but there’s nothing about her that is arrogant. She really wants to connect with you; whether some measly little blogger person or a huge internet web star, she will treat you all the same. I’m telling you that this kind of nature is a rarity. If you do get the chance to chat with her, you will see what I mean. If you want to have coffee with her, she’ll totally have coffee with you (granted you’re not like really crazy but even then, I kinda think she totally would).

Maya Chia Review: The Super Couple & Limted Edition Waterless Wonder Balm
Maya Chia has quickly become a brand on the forefront of the green beauty world. After hearing amazing reviews from other green beauty bloggers, like the lovely Britanie Faith of Beauty by Britanie, and customers alike I knew I just had to try this line for myself. So when it appeared in January’s Beauty Heroes subscription box I was incredibly excited to say the least. (Beauty Heroes has quickly become one of my all time favourite subscriptions for green beauty as it consistently features the most luxe green beauty brands around.)
Not only did every single review I read sing its praises, I had already looked into the ingredient profile used by Maya Chia and knew this was going to be a winner in terms of skin care. First up I’ll gush about my love for the ‘Super Couple’ face oil because this is a product that I wish everyone could experience. This face oil in particular boasts some incredible ingredients that are so good for the skin. The super critical chia oil was the first ingredient to grab my attention. For those of you who follow my blog you’ll know I have a bit of a love affair with chia seed oil. The extraction process of the Chia Oil that Maya Chia is known for ensures the oil is pure, high quality, and in its most potent form. Chia seed oil creates a dewy, plumping effect to the skin which will leave you with the most gorgeous glowing skin. If it were up to me, all beauty products would include chia seed oil because it is pure magic.
Astaxanthin was the second ingredient in the ‘Super Couple’ to catch my attention and that is because I had just discovered what it was last summer while looking into supplements for skin protection from the sun and regeneration. What I didn’t find in my research was that it could be applied externally to the skin to receive the same regenerating and protective benefits. This is what gives the ‘Super Couple’ it’s gorgeous Amber colouring. Not only does this oil look beautiful itself but it will make your skin beautiful too – win win! The Super Couple is the ultimate face oil for all skin types.. I have sensitive, redness and acne prone skin that dehydrates during seasonal shifts.. So when I test products with success, I am almost certain they will work for most skin types out there. This oil sinks into the skin quicker than any other oil I’ve ever used, making it perfect for both the morning (pre-makeup) and at night before bed. In fact, the oil basically doubles as a make up primer due to the chia seed oil and its ability to plump up and balance the planes of your skin.
One of the most amazing benefits I noticed after using this oil was the reduction of tiny bumps on my skin. These tiny skin coloured micro-bumps have been part of my skin since I can remember and have always bothered me. I have searched for so long to find something to correct this issue but this is the first time I’ve been successful! They have visibly reduced causing my skin texture to smooth and even out. This has created the most perfect canvas for make up application and something I am indebted to Maya Chia for. I am excited to keep using this oil over time to see if they completely vanish and ,fingers crossed, leaves me with a perfectly smooth complexion. One can only dream, right?
The second product found in my Beauty Heroes Box was the Maya Chia Limited edition waterless wonder balm. I have used my fair share of balms and I am pretty critical of them, but this balm is some sort of dreamy unicorn balm. The texture is medium thickness and has a creamy consistency. Its colour is similar to that of pearls. I use this on my face at night over top of the super couple and it adds an extra kick of hydration. My skin glows when I wake up after using the two products in conjunction. This balm can be used for dry skin on any part of the body. It helped greatly when I caught a bug this past month and my lips started to chap and crack. One day of applying this balm to my lips and the next day the cracking and chap were completely gone. I was amazed!
If you’re looking to improve the appearance of your skin and give it a hefty dose of vitamins, Maya Chias a great place to start. This line is luxe luxe luxe & I can assure you will not be disappointed!

Maya Chia Beauty Super Couple Luxe Face Oil
In this age of beauty oils popping everywhere – I was in the search for one that catered to my sensitive skin. Now when I say sensitive I mean: my face burns with certain products, usually chemical heavy products that could work for the regular person – on my skin turn into a burning redness getitoffmahface situation. So I have found myself researching more towards organic beauty products and since a lot of you suffer from the same, I figured I shared. I have already found a line I love and I reviewed It a few posts back but I did want a face oil to complement my existing routine that was rich in antiaging elements because baby: hitting my 30’s puts things into perspective and I want my old age to be pretty. I tried this for a month, and where its too soon to make a 180 or perhaps completely eliminate the lines under my eyes that were caused by my last decade of poor sleeping habits but I did notice the texture of that area of my face become smoother softer.. It’s meant to revitalize aging skin, prevent and reduce the size of wrinkles, help with firmness, brightening and of course moisturizing – I have found myself using it a lot of different ways: I use it after washing and toning my skin in the evenings, the drops are thick enough that you don’t need a lot but amazingly so: my face absorbed them the second I applied it the first time. I add it to my weekly masks, I put it on my lips for a treatment for my lip swatching pout, it has jasmine and rose and you can pick up whiffs of the scent as you apply it which makes the whole experience a sensory therapy. After a month of use my skin feels calmer, less tight from the dryness and environmental elements, glowy on its own which has made me appreciate it and leave it bare more often. I have a few spots on my face where I get really red and certain oils aggravate it – this did not affect my skin but left it rich and nourished, it became a thing to search for the scent notes on it. Note: the scent is not strong at all! Its balanced enough that you enjoy its application without the annoyance of a leafy botanical smell (I don’t mind these usually but some people don’t like to smell like a witch doctor and I understand). I liked it, will repurchase and im looking at other @mayachiabeauty products like the waterless balm… this organic beauty thing is really a thing now right!?

The Super Couple of Green Beauty
When I found out which brand and product would be featured I couldn’t have been more excited. 2016 saw both getting a lot of hype and exposure and though I usually remain somewhat cool in the face of those things, the allure with this particular product was too strong. I’m speaking of none other than Maya Chia’s The Super Couple. The main reason is due to the inclusion of one of the star ingredients, astaxanthin. This particular ingredient is not new to me at all since it garnered a lot of hype (and I mean A LOT) in Japan already 10 years or so ago. I remember living in Osaka and seeing it being mentioned everywhere from skincare to supplements so when I saw that Maya Chia had used it I was very intrigued. I’d never used anything with it myself despite the attention it was getting in Japan (and this was also waaaaay before my skincare obsessed days…ergo interest was minimal) so with the launch of The Super Couple I thought it was perhaps time for me to dip my toes into this very hyped about ingredient and see what all the fuss was about. Said to benefit the skin in numerous ways, astaxanthin is a powerful antioxidant that helps reduce spots, freckles and wrinkles, improve skin elasticity and moisture as well as maintain smooth, luminous skin. The gorgeous is-it-pink-or-is-it-orange colour of the serum is thanks to this superpower ingredient that can be found in Pacific sockeye salmon, algae, krill, lobster and shrimp amongst others. It has also been said to improve eye, heart and cellular health as well as your immune system – maybe not something that The Super Couple will help you with but beauty and health do start from the inside so eating your share of fish and shellfish and applying Maya Chia’s serum isn’t such a bad combination perhaps
The other superstar ingredient is chia seed oil and not just any but a supercritically extracted version that is patented to Maya Chia. What does this mean? It means that it’s of the highest quality as this particular extraction ensures that the oil itself has been minimally processed so as to keep it as close in purity and concentration to the whole plant. You can read more about it on Beauty Heroes’ website here.
The serum itself is oil-based and sinks in beautifully once applied. It doesn’t leave your skin greasy at all. I do feel that it’s not moisturising enough on its own in the cold and dry climate of Sweden so I have to layer with a water-based serum and moisturiser, however I can’t say that I’ve needed to do so here in Hong Kong. Going into my fourth week of The Super Couple I have to say I’m impressed, and happy that my expectations of it have been met (unlike Vintner’s which was simply ok). Overall and with diligent daily use I would say that my skin feels soft and supple, with a sustained brightness and glow that can be challenging to maintain during the darker months of the year, particularly in the North. I dare say this is one product that I will be getting once it’s finished as I love the results but also the beautiful composition of ingredients. On top of chia seed oil and astaxanthin, The Super Couple contains the likes of jasmine, rose, chamomile, frankincense and lavender to mention a few on the superstar roster.
@Mienelienable
The Super Couple Review
I haven’t loved a face oil as much as this one in a loooong time. As I have combination/acne prone skin, most oils are too heavy for me and leave my skin feeling oily. I have to mix some kind of a serum to them so that the oils sink in faster and absorb better.
To my surprise that isn’t the case with this oil! The maya chia beauty Super Couple face oil has a bright orange color (due to the astaxanthin) and a very light texture, similar to a serum IMO. It’s super easy to apply, sinks in super quick and leaves my skin with a wonderful non-greasy glow. After a long hunt for the perfect oil, I have finally found my HG.

Green Beauty Review: Should You Put Chia On Your Face?
I used the oil for two weeks, slathering it on my face at night after my regiment. As opposed to most oils, it goes on super light and absorbs almost instantly, leaving my face feeling soft and dry. It has a vaguely nutty, rich smell – more savory than feminine. Because it is such a dry oil, I wouldn’t recommend it for the winter or night, actually, when we crave rich moisture. It will go on much easier as a layer in your morning regimen during the warmer, humid months. (That makes sense, actually, it being an equator-friendly plant, doesn’t it?) After two weeks (and it’s always hard to say without taking a picture in the beginning and end in the exact same light) I felt like my face looked maybe slightly better? As with most of these reviews, my skin is still young enough that I can never say for sure if an anti-aging product is working. I can only tell you what I think I observed! If you are obsessed with chia seeds’ health benefits and want to put some powerful antioxidants on your face, this product will make a nice addition to your beauty cabinet this summer.
