GIVING BACK
GIVING BACK
“Chia” means “strength” in the Mayan language, and the name is a daily reminder that Maya Chia would not exist without the people and culture that inspired it. Giving back, therefore, is not a seasonal campaign or a feel‑good add‑on; it is part of how the brand defines its everyday conduct.
Maya Chia is the corporate sponsor of Adopt‑A‑Village Guatemala, a grassroots nonprofit that provides education, skills training, and sustainable organic gardening programs for Maya communities. In 2021, the organization received the Energy Globe Award for its work teaching families to grow nutrient‑dense food in a way that protects the land for future generations: an approach that mirrors Maya Chia’s belief in long‑horizon thinking, whether the subject is ecosystems or the epidermis.
Closer to home, the brand invests in clean energy with the same pragmatism it brings to formulations. Its nearly 5,000‑square‑foot Charleston studio runs on solar power, with panels that can offset much of the facility’s electricity use and even charge employees’ electric cars on site. It is a quietly radical idea: that luxurious, high‑performance skincare can be created in a space powered by the sun, informed by rigorous science, and guided by a deep respect for the communities and planet that make it all possible.
Powered by Nature's Best Ingredients (including the Sun)
We are committed to taking every step we can to be as environmentally responsible as possible. We are by no means perfect - we are continually evolving - but we are trying to make progress in the right direction.
Five years ago, we made the decision to install solar panels in our nearly 5,000 square foot studio complex in Charleston, South Carolina. We are now pleased to share that we have the capability to offset much of our electrical needs at our facility using solar energy.
What that means is that the Maya Chia products we send to you will be created using clean(er) energy. Additionally, we also installed a solar car charging station in our studio for our employees (at no cost to them) to incentivize the use of electrical vehicles.
